Bruce Springsteen on WBCN: Bruce Springsteen's first-ever radio performance and interview took place on January 9, 1973, and was broadcast live from WBCN's studios. Springsteen, who was in Boston for a week of concerts at Joe's Place (January 6, 1973) and Paul's Mall (January 8 through 14, 1973), was joined by members of the E Street Band (minus Vinnie Lopez), and was interviewed by WBCN's Maxanne Sartori. The acoustic performance included a tuba and accordion. Springsteen and band performed Duke Ellington's "Satin Doll," " Bishop Dance," "Circus Song," "Song to Orphans," and "Does this Bus Stop at 82nd Street." Springsteen ended with a performance of "Blinded By The Light," featuring background singers including Columbia Record's Ed Hynes, but the song is abbreviated as the recording tape ran out.
